National Community Development Week

DCH Announces Armonia Apartments in Celebration of National Community Development Week

National Community Development Week is observed annually during Congress's spring recess in recognition of the importance of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships programs. These are two of the most important federal tools available to local communities addressing housing affordability and economic development, at scale.

In the spirit of this recognition, DCH is announcing its forthcoming launch of the Armonia Apartments in West Dallas.  The development embodies the principles Community Development Week was created to celebrate.

CDBG helps communities address housing, community, and economic development, water, infrastructure, and human service needs, while HOME assists in funding affordable housing for low-income families. The impact of these programs extends beyond their direct allocations  every $1.00 of CDBG funding leverages an additional $4.09 in public or private sector investment, and every $1.00 of HOME funding generates $4.44 in additional resources.

Armonia Apartments is being delivered during this moment where national conversations converge on the importance of equitable and attainable housing. Cities nationwide grapple with a widening affordability crisis. Armonia represents a tangible commitment to building communities where people can thrive and build generational wealth regardless of income.

National Community Development Week is a reminder of how deliberate advocacy, sustained investment, and developers willing to align their work address needs of communities they serve. DCH is honored to mark this occasion with the announcement of Armonia,  a project that we believe reflects the highest aspirations of community development and a meaningful contribution to the future of West Dallas.
