Dallas City Homes Announces New President
Dallas City Homes (DCH), a non-profit community development organization, is pleased to announce Jason Brown as its new president. He will be the third president in DCH’s 31-year history and will succeed current president, Karen Brooks-Crosby, who is retiring after 20 years of service.
Brown is a Dallas native and managing partner at aTENANTCo, a full service commercial real estate brokerage firm serving small and mid-size business users of retail, office and industrial space. For more than a decade, he has specialized in working with public and privately held real estate investment trusts, developers, non-profit organizations, municipalities and high net worth individuals. Brown serves on several committees and non-profit boards including the International Council of Shopping Centers, North Texas Commercial Association of REALTORS, The Real Estate Council, Fair Park First, and is a fellow of D Magazine’s Leadership Academy.
Brooks-Crosby said, “Jason is an ideal mix of intellect, experience, commitment and passion for communities. I am thrilled that he has been selected to lead DCH into its next phase of community development and its continuing mission of creating housing and physical spaces that meet the residential needs of people while addressing their multifaceted needs for wellness, education, human connectivity and personal growth.”
Brown has been a member of DCH’s board of directors for more than four years and has served recently as treasurer. As he vacates his governance position to step into his leadership role, he will focus on several housing and mixed-use developments that DCH has in the works.
DCH currently owns multifamily communities and development sites in Bishop Arts, La Bajada/Trinity Groves, Pleasant Grove and Southeast Oak Cliff. The nonprofit organization develops housing for low-to-moderate income residents, with plans to develop senior housing, art/culture-based community assets and community gardens. “One of my priorities will be taking these projects vertical and continuing to increase the supply of affordable housing for Dallas County,” said Brown.
“The need for affordable housing has never been more critical. We are confident that Jason will not only continue the legacy of our retiring president, but also master the major new challenges going forward,” said Phyllis Isaacs, DCH board of directors chairwoman.
