Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act (S.548)

Senators Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) have introduced the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act of 2017, legislation designed to improve and expand the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program which provides financing for 90% of the affordable housing built annually, and has created 3 million affordable rentals since 1986. If passed the legislation could pave the way for the production of an additional 400,000 rental homes over the next 10 years.
