North Texas Giving Day 2024 9.19.2024
Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day is September 19, 2024. We are excited to participate this year and share the spirit of philanthropy in this 18-hour online event. It is the largest community-wide giving event in the nation and North Texas Giving Day gives local charities the opportunity and impetus to generate support for the year.
In 2023 alone, this event raised $63.9 million through the contributions of 97,132 donors, benefiting 3,249 local nonprofits. The event's fifteen-year total is $566 million for the North Texas community. These numbers reflect more than just donations; they represent the commitment of North Texans to making their community a better place.
DCH's: Attainable Housing for All
We have a lot to share this North Texas Giving Day, DCH is excited to align its mission with this spirit of giving. DCH is continues to work towards addressing the critical issue of affordable housing in North Texas. Over the next five years, DCH aims to contribute 500 units of attainable workforce housing across Dallas county. These units are not just buildings; they are foundations upon which families can build their futures. Starting with our Armonia Apartments in La Bajada, a neighborhood of West Dallas.
Groundbreaking and the Construction of Armonia Apartments in La Bajada
In the past year, we have made some major moves. DCH announced the groundbreaking of the Armonia Apartments in the La Bajada neighborhood. Located in West Dallas, the Armonia Apartments provide much-needed mixed-income housing options in an area where the need is particularly acute. The project is designed with the community in mind, incorporating features that foster a sense of belonging, security, and pride for its future residents. It includes a mix of unit sizes, green space, and is designed to create a supportive environment where individuals and families can thrive.
The name "Armonia," meaning "harmony" in Spanish, reflects the project's goal and the diversity of the area. This project represents more than just new housing; it symbolizes hope, renewal, and progress for a community that has long been a vibrant part of North Texas.
